GFS seems to be catching up with the Euro. I think its going to track farther west (like the Euro has been saying), and land somewhere in the mid Atlantic states. We will surely see some effects, but it won't be a direct hit like Irene was.

Suggest getting what you need NOW from stores. Just went out to lunch for work and the Grocery stores, Home Depot, etc are chaos already.

30 foot storm surge, that is just hard to even imagine.

Canadien model just out. Makes Irene look like a walk in the park.

Irene's storm surge was about 5-7 feet. So I apologize, if what the models are showing the surge would be over 20 feet NOT 30! The way its coming in is something we all looked at history and discussed a worse case senario would be. Plus Full moon senario

Still 4 days away so lets see the details as we move forward.

We been through it all around here so just get your thoughts and plans together.

My main concern where I am is winds with the trees and windows.

Smile Hope the predictions are wrong

I was down at the East Haven beach last week when the third modular home was being put in to replace houses washed away in Irene last year. Nearby was a huge new stick-built home and many more still being repaired since last year. The water was actually up to the front of the home being installed, as it was high tide at the time. Hopefully, the people down there will get a break this time. Good luck to all; not much we can do except prepare as best we can.

CL&P Facebook post.

"Hi all - we've begun storm preparation, including pre-planning meetings and reaching out to outside crews and contractors regarding the potential need for assistance"
