My neighbor's 60' tree just fell on my driveway. This is not a good sign.

I thought the same until about 20 minutes ago. Wind is really beginning to ramp up.

I thought you weren't posting anymore?

Looks like NHC is updating an hour early (and the fact that we're still getting NHC updates is great.....they had said yesterday that once it appeared to be post-tropical they would stop and we'd only get NWS updates.....it's one reason we didn't get hurricane/tropical storm warnings on land)......Sandy moved a bit south so they're now forseeing a Cape May, NJ landfall (65 miles to go!):

4:00 PM EDT Mon Oct 29
Location: 38.6°N 74.0°W
Moving: WNW at 28 mph
Min pressure: 940 mb
Max sustained: 90 mph

Ehh...I thought of that too. Irene was a bust, this has basically put Atlantic City underwater and the storm's not even made landfall yet so it'll get worse later on tonight.

NWS Upton
.
SANDY HAS SPED UP A BIT...WITH LANDFALL ACROSS NJ/DE BY 00Z(8pm). WIND DIRECTION HAS THEREFORE BEEN MODIFIED. MARINE MESONETS INDICATE WINDS EXCEEDING 60KT. GREAT GULL ISLAND HAS COME IN WITH 75KT AT 3PM. REPORT OF 84 MPH AT PLUM ISLAND AND WESTERLY RI. THESE WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO OVERSPREAD THE CWA FROM E TO W THRU THIS EVE. THE MOST SERIOUS WIND THREAT IS THEREFORE IMMINENT WILL LAST THRU THIS EVE.

It's gusty here, no power loss but ready for it now, a few trees have fell over and knocked out power in some areas here.

I went to work this morning and before we left they were saying we start tomorrow at 4:15 AM

They called me around 11 AM saying no work for tomorrow.

NWS Boston

AT 2 PM HURRICANE SANDY WAS APPROXIMATELY 110 MILES SOUTHEAST OF
ATLANTIC CITY NJ...MOVING 305 DEGS/NW AT 25 KT AND WITH A MINIMUM
CENTRAL PRESSURE OF 940 MB! MAX SUSTAINED WINDS ARE 90 MPH.

VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY CONTINUES TO INDICATE LOTS OF DEEP
CONVECTION IN AND NEAR THE CENTER...LIKELY AN INDICATION OF
ADDITIONAL INTENSIFICATION. OKX AND PHI RADARS EVEN DETECTING A
BIT OF AN EYE STRUCTURE.

ALSO 34 FT SEAS AT BUOY 44008 /ABOUT 54
NM SOUTH OF NANTUCKET/! VERY IMPRESSIVE STORM TO SAY THE LEAST.
NOT MUCH CHANGE FROM PREVIOUS FORECAST WITH 12Z NAM AND GFS TAKING
SANDY INTO SOUTH-CENTRAL NJ AROUND 00Z. MODEL INTENSITY IS NOT
STRONG ENOUGH BUT THATS EXPECTED GIVEN THE COMPLEX THERMAL
STRUCTURE OF THIS STORM WITH A WARM CORE CENTER BUT BAROCLINIC
SHELL. DESPITE THIS GOOD MODEL AGREEMENT ON CORE OF LOW LEVEL JET
MOVING ACROSS THE AREA AROUND 21Z WITH 925 MB WINDS UP TO 85 KT!
THUS STRONGEST WINDS STILL TO COME! 12Z NAM BUFKIT SOUNDINGS
SUPPORT THIS IDEA WITH MAX MOMENTUM WINDS OCCURRING BETWEEN 2 PM -
7 PM.
