Last year when we had that horrible snowstorm before Halloween not one
single neighbor came by to see if we were okay or alive, when we lost
power for over a week.
I just noticed the power went out for a second, but it's getting windier,& shall
be til 11 pm in our area.
Our neighbors are extremely hostile & unfriendly to me & our family.

If a catastrophe happened, no one would come by to help us, that's for
sure.

Beware of where you move to in Connecticut, considering how many large
trees there are in this state!

RockNRollRocks,

We moved here 3 years ago. Unfortunately too many people are into themselves and somehow think they are above others. We built our dream house in a beautiful neighborhood. However, we can't wait to move back to a more grounded community.

You go to the end of the driveway and say hello to a neighbor at the mailbox. Some will not even lift their head to acknowledge your presence as they are in their own world.

You obviously don't live in my neighborhood.

I moved up here from NC back in '98 and I always thought this was odd.. Not just neighbor's but anyone walking down the street.. they look at you from afar but as they get closer they look down so they wont have to speak.

Funny very few natives natives will smile the rest look down.

Yeah, I so hear where you're coming from SubieB4!
There's a few friendly folks here but not a whole lot no more.
Yeah, in the south, total strangers will say hello to you, when they walk past you.
In our area, the next door neighbor doesn't EVER talk to us!

How unfriendly & snooty way that is to act towards neighbors close by you.

I wouldn't really call them "neighbors" actually, if that is how they act!

Why should they be checking on you? Their power is out too. They need to take care of their families. Stop being so self-centered and take care of yourself.

I'm in Granby. Last October, people with generators were providing showers and coffee for those without. My church sent about 30 people out to help clean up for seniors who couldn't do the work. It was awesome how helpful everybody was.

Seriously...

People are probably taking care of the more needy (elderly, children, disabled) then this guy... I don't get the OP at all.

Why should anyone check on you? is there something about you that makes you unable to deal with the situation at hand yourself?
