My husband and I will be probably relocating to CT in the next months as a result of a new job (in Danbury). As you may imagine, we will appreciate any information you can provide to us. For example:

1. Best area to live
2. Apartment rentals
3. Taxes
4.Overall prices (utilities, food etc).
5. Quality of Life

Thanks!

PRCT - Danbury is a small city in western Connecticut that is very diverse. It has many apartments and condominiums so I am sure that you will be able to find an apartment you will like there. I do not know if you have children but schools in Danbury score below the State averages on the Connecticut Mastery Test and class sizes are fairly large (over 20 students per class). If education is a top priority to you, I would consider looking in one of the adjacent towns like Bethel, Brookfield or New Fairfield. Hope this helps, Jay

Default Moving to CT

Thanks for the info!
Our two biggest concerns are the housing prices (initially would rent) and commuting time. We have seen 2/1.5 apartments renting for $1500 or higher, and that is a little higher than we are used to. Do you know if/how much lower prices we could find for a decent appartment in a decent area?
Also, an approximate of utilities expenses for two occupants?

Also, where could we find information regarding income taxes?

You can expect to pay those high figures in any area that is consider a "desirable" area all throughout Connectcut...and especially in the areas nearer to the New York Border.Come prepared to pay to play ! Utilitiy Bills in Arpartments can easily run $300.00 for electric and more if using it for heat..cable is running around $70.00 or more depending on what you want to pay to watch.....you might not have to deal with gas--unless you are cooking or heating with it. The rates your paying for in Connecticut are very high !!............Many young couples without kids usually live in the outskirt citys or towns and commute into more expensive towns to work---util they saved enough money to buy a home....then you can live where-ever you can afford.

Check craigslist.com for rentals. There may be some that are less there. Jay

Hi,
I hope it's not too late to help you. If you're looking for a rental in Danbury, you have a large variety of choices. You can start from $950 up to $1600.
Danbury is very diverse and full of so many options comparing with the surrounding towns. As a tenant you don't pay taxes , your responsibility is the utilities and renters insurance.
if you're looking to or considering to buy than while you're renting you can observe and collect more info on Danbury and its neighborhooods.
the best thing to do is to get in touch with a realtor like myself. Hoping that this would be helpful for you.
Dee
