I've had Verizon wireless for almost 10 years and have never had issues with dropped calls. Over the past 2 weeks I can't have a 5 minute conversation without the call dropping 2 or 3 times. It started the day before Sandy hit, so it may have something to do with that, but I'm in Granby where there was minimal damage.

Is anybody else having issues with Verizon?

I've definitely had an uptick in dropped calls lately. I wonder if the network sustained damage or it's growing pains?

Verizon was severely adversely impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Damage to towers, wires, etc. I use Verizon because it offers the best service in my area, but during both Irene and Sandy had problems with service.

This is due to damaged towers, the lack of generator or battery back on some towers, inability of nearby towers to fully carry over the service from damaged towers, flooded equipment, etc.

Do a quick search on Google on you'll lots of articles on Verizon's problems.

Is the call dropping just at home or is it happening all around the Granby area and in other towns (e.g. when you are out shopping or at work)?

If it's happening in various places, I would suggest having your phone checked, too. Yes, Sandy damaged a lot of Verizon equipment, but you said this started happening before Sandy hit. FWIW, here is an article from the Hartford Business Journal citing that the hardest impacted areas were NY and NJ, and that they were already back up at 94% as of last Friday (November 2nd).

Mine has been fine. Dial *228 from your verizon phone to update the cell towers.
