Hello There, I am moving to CT, because I got a job in Cigna bloomfield , CT... I am unable to make out any suitable areas nearby the place to move in and whether I will have to commute, if its a little far? But if I am commuting, I will have to do it only through public transport, I don't have a car right now.

is public transportation/transit available to Bloomfield area from some nearby cities or any public transportation in Bloomfield area itself?

please suggest me on this.
Thank you.

It really depends on where in Bloomfield you will be working but there is bus service in and around a lot of the town. Bloomfield is a suburban town so most of the service originates out of Hartford and because Bloomfield is north of Hartford most of that service goes through Hartford's troubled North End. There are some buses that serve Cigna and Metlife's buildings near West Hartford which is a great place to live but if you are going to be working somewhere else you may have to go into downtown. Still you need to study the service map at CT Transit's website below to see where you can get back and forth from in a reasonable time. Jay

If you look on CTTransit, you can download a detailed map. It looks like there is a route that runs in West Hartford along Asylum to N. Main Street to Cigna, and another along Cottage Grove Road in Bloomfield to Cigna. With connections, you could get there from Hartford, too. If you don't have children to put in school, it's cheaper to rent in Bloomfield. If you do have children, West Hartford schools are much better, and you should rent in West Hartford. Eventually, you're going to need to get a car, if at all possible. It's much easier to get around here if you have a car. Check Craigslist for rentals.

The bus stops ON the campus of CIGNA. Given your transportation needs you probably can't stay in Bloomfield unless you are willing to walk to work. I would follow the CCTransit maps starting at CIGNA and work backwards to a location suitable for living - probably on the Asylum area in Hartford.

Good luck!
