Please STOP and reconsider whether or not it is appropriate for you to do so in the CT forum. Many individuals don't appear to understand that there are NUMEROUS other forums right here on CITY DATA that would be more suited for expressing their opinions.

I speak for myself with this posting, however, i'm sure others and our CT moderator would greatly appreciate your cooperation. Thank you.

Well said. And I will add that Connecticut is a small state so this tragedy affects us all immensely. Please respect that.

It really is a small state. For about half of the state, i'd say it felt like it happened practically in your backyard.

I'm one, even smaller state in between us, and I feel like it's my own backyard too.

Thank you Stratford for starting this thread. I am hoping that it will help people coming to this forum understand why we only have on thread going on Newtown and why it is not discussing this tragedy. JayCT, Moderator

Jay, I want to apologize for the post you deleted/"warninged" me about. I didn't think it was "political", I just was speculating on something that was out there, but I'm not out to "poison" the board and you feel it is, no problem; it's great that so many from all over are using it as a "condolence board".

Unfortunately, i guess we can now say it had been a "condolence" board. I didn't feel that any of your posts were derailers. Other people though......................

I understand what you meant and under normal circumstances I would have let it pass unless there was a specific complaint, but this is not normal and we need to get through this the best way possible for everyone.

Thank you everyone for understanding and your support. JayCT, Moderator

May I suggest that you post a few links to those numerous discussions then? A very quick look on my own brought up one in "politics and other controversies" (I wouldn't see "I'm so sorry" as a controversy) and "religion and spirituality" in the Atheists category.
Not exactly where I would have wanted to post. Isn't Connecticut's forum where someone not from CT obviously would look to offer you condolences?

Thank you. Being that we are such a small state, I don't think others swooping in to argue about mental health issues or gun laws realize that this affects some of us directly. I have a link to a seven year old victim and I am sure I am not the only one on the board with ties to this tragedy. Please keep that in mind before posting.
