Hello. Me and my wife are getting ready to move in October since I will be leaving the Air Force. We are moving to Connecticut and we were looking to live around the Hamden area. (Because of Yale University and where my job is). I wanted to know how safe the area is? My wife has bad anxiety and her safety is my greatest priority. I've heard mixed things about the area. Specifically the house is near Putnam ave? Is it, for the most part, safe or should we look elsewhere?
Thanks in advance.
Putnam Ave is fine, especially toward Whitney. It's south of there on/around Dixwell you have to worry about. The rest of Hamden is very safe. Most of the towns surrounding New Haven are safe.
From East of Dixwell and North of Putnam into the North Haven area is a pretty quiet place. youll find some Yale people and doctors residing there. Nice area in the fall around East Rock and the lake for cycling or jogging.
