My husband wants to move out of CT. I dont even know where to start. He doesnt know where he wants to move to. I know Id like it to be somewhat close to CT. I dont know how to even go about moving to another state. Should we look for jobs first? We have a 5 year old son whos in kindergarden. Id like to move somewhere where they have good schools. This whole things got me a little frazzled. Im worried about moving away from my family. I dont know if my husband will be able to find a job. Currently hes a subcontractor for Comcast, he hangs cable. Im a schoolbus driver so thats not too hard to find. I guess my main question is how do we even start looking?

Well, first of all it seems to me like you and your husband may need to discuss this quite a bit further. Your post sounds like you are not completely in favor of moving. It is a huge decision and a lot of work to move, so you should both be on board.

That being said, I would start the search by talking about what the reasons are for moving. What don't you like about CT? The weather? Do you want a warmer or colder climate? The price of housing? Are you looking for a more rural lifestyle or more urban? These sorts of questions will help you start to narrow down your choices.

There are also lots of books (check your local public library) out there with lists of best places to....retire/raise a family/etc.

For fun, here's a link to a website that lets you take a little quiz to figure out what sort of place might be right for you:

Best of luck~

CTlibrarian has some good ideas. I would never suggest moving unless at least one of you has a job lined up or you have a large amount of cash that is readily accessible to carry you for a few months. The job market isn't exactly great right now in most areas, so definitely afford your family the security of having at least one stable income.

That's a tough spot to be in.

Tell your husband some guy online (married with children) in a nice friendly way said to think of this saying:

A man of leadership does not say "who will follow me, now where are we going" instead he says "this is where I am going who wants to go".

Also Moderator cut: link removed is a good site to find areas with like mindset and values.

Best of luck to you.

Not a bad place to go for relocation CT librarian, but it looks like that takes two hours, not to mention by eyeballs hurt from the small text.
