In my town we pay our annual car tax during the month of August.
Assuming I purchase a new car today, would I be charged a pro-rated amount in August for my new car purchase? In other words, would I be charged for four months this year (April, May, Jun & July)?
"Any vehicle registered October 2nd through July 31st will be part of the Supplemental billing in January of the following year."
Interestingly, when I bought a car in mid-Aug 2011, I was NOT billed for Aug & Sep 2011. I called the town and they said yes, that is the way it works. I did pay a full year tax in July 2012. So it appears there is a 2 month window (Aug & Sep) where you can avoid a pro-rated tax !
