Its one thing to inconvenience people, but its another to do this sort of thing across the country time after time for nothing other than campaigning and pushing your agenda. Frankly, this, along with many of his other recent trips, have been nothing other than a complete waste of tax payer money. Unneeded trips and travel. Seems like every other day he is flying some where and not only inconveniencing the locals, but its all costing hundreds of thousands of dollars per trip. At a time where he was just complaining about sequester, he and other political scum certainly dont even try to cut back.

So you would rather have a President who locks himself up in the White House away from everyone and who nevers ventures out??? I hate to tell you this but all Presidents travel around the country. IT is part of their job. Jay

When Pres. Obama was in Stamford fundraising last year the closures were crazy. Left work in Stamford around 5:00 when he was leaving to go elsewhere in the state & there were multiple roads closed off downtown. Picked up a friend in north Stamford to go to a seminar in Norwalk and all of the highway entrances were closed! We drove down route 1 and took detours to keep checking the highway entrances; nope, all shut down because Obama could be coming through at any moment. For 2 hours I saw lots of roads closed during the evening commute. Can't imagine how late the people who commute between NY & CT got home that day.

I realize that security has been like this for decades and it's no fault of the President, but wow--what an inconvenience all of the security makes. If the Gabby Giffords situation taught us anything, it should be that even armed security forces immediately surrounding someone can't prevent atrocities from happening. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Agreed. But in fairness, all it takes is a raindrop and Norwalk/Stamford traffic is at a standstill.

I kept an eye on Google traffic during the time of the closures, and traffic in Hartford was unusually smooth. WFSB even reported no major delays.

Yeah, at least this was a planned and announced closure. Some dummie driving dangerously can cause the same kind of shutdown randomly any day of the year.

Well, they didn't do it for President Ford. Because his limo got "t-boned" in downtown Hartford many moons ago...

This is probably why they do shut the roads down now. You do not want some nut ramming the President's vehicle when visits places. Jay
