While I am not personally a proponent of recreational marijuana, I do not think that the state has much of a choice anymore now that Massachusetts has legalized it. A lot of people in our state will be traveling to Massachusetts to buy it legally just like they used to with alcohol 50 years ago when the legal age in Connecticut was 21 but in New York it was 18. Unfortunately we are too small of a state and in a too densely populated area to ignore what our neighboring states do. Jay

Also, when speaking about "Govt assets" those assets belong to society et al and we haven't consented to selling any of them.
I agree. I still can't believe that Arizona sold its capitol so I went online and looked and apparently they did sell a number of state buildings that are part of the State Capitol complex but not the original capitol building. Still not what I would want Connecticut to do. Jay

The boom at Pratt & Whitney is spreading across the state as suppliers and subcontractors to the East Hartford giant jet engine maker grow as well to meet the increased demand. More great news. Jay

I am cool with tolls as long as they do away with either gas & sales or income tax. I mean CT could run off taxing liquor, cigarettes, marijuana, tolls, and sales tax. Then cap property tax at 20 Mill Rate and have a county sales tax. Do away with the estate tax. Do away with sales tax on clothes.

Why do you want to keep getting away with income tax and replace with more sales type taxes? Income tax is progressive where the rate increases as your income increases. All the taxes you suggest are flat taxes and would essentially be more of a burden to lower income individuals as these flat taxes would be a larger percentage of their income compared to higher earners. I see you making these types of suggestions every week.

A high sales tax and no income tax would also discourage consumer spending from the middle class.
