I will use a Groucho Marx quote for this:

“Nobody ever goes there anymore — it's too crowded.”

If there was a mass exodus, real estate prices would reflect that.

It sounds like a lot of lower income people are moving out.

CA had some of the strongest economic growth in all of the US. I'm not saying that's due to the high taxes, but despite it. CA has some massively successful industries (entertainment, tech/innovation, agriculture).

That is a good quote but Yogi Berra said it.

Ca is quite unique. Great weather, coast, could go on an on. Has many Asian investors, and foreign money propping it up. Of course the entertainment industry, and silicon valley.

Many businesses are leaving. Read the articles i submitted. its not just lower income people moving out, most of the lower usually can't afford too.
Anyways Ct is not blessed with all the things that make Cali unique. No songs about Ct dreaming!

Think the biggest issues in CT are mill rates are too high, real estate prices are too high, and cost of goods are too high. There is not much the State can really do with regards to those issues.

I mean only thing could think of is work with local municipalities in lowering mill rates, Counties/Consolidated Services with other Municipalities, offer tax breaks to companies in CT that increase employee wages by a certain percentage, make car taxes a flat low rate that is collected by the State or make car taxes a one time payment, and reduce sales tax with more exceptions as well.

There has been a number of discussions on this forum concerning the heavy tax burden people in Connecticut face as well as lagging home sales in Greenwich since the last recession. This article notes that while taxes are high here, the burden is less than other states in the New York City area and that home sales are up significantly in Greenwich in part because of it. I am not sure all this is entirely true but Greenwich does have some of the lowest property taxes in our state and it is considered to be one of the most desirable towns in the country. Not surprising that more people are moving there. Jay

So the jobs market in Connecticut continues to get better causing another drop in the unemployment rate. Private sector employment continues to grow (great news) while public sector continues to drop (Also good news since most of those jobs affect taxes). Jay

Whoop de doo, we need to measure up well nationally, not jus regionally. The whole Northeast is a laggard economically except for Massachusetts.
