Depends on your definition of insane clips. Electric Boat, Pratt & Whitney, Infosys, Indeed, Dattco, Charter are all making major expansions here. By most standards these expansions are pretty darn good. If people “leaving our state in droves” is a couple hundred net, these certainly could be considered an “insane clip”. Jay

Most years we lose a few thousand minimum, net, Jay, in state to state migration.

Again, I see all these claims of CT being a job hotspot because “the New Haven millennial ranking!”, when in reality, the numbers aren’t showing anything close to this. When someone can point me in the direction of a stat that says CT has gained a significant number of jobs, then I’ll concede the “hiring at an insane clip” claim. Until then, no.

That $800k was primarily targeted at Lower Fairfield County. But in Danbury you would still be looking at 500-550k for a decent 4 bed house.

Hartford area ain't cheap though, you would be looking at $300k with higher taxes for a 4 bed house, say in Manchester, and $350-400k in Rocky Hill.

Anyway, it's pretty dang pricey in both areas for an average home.

Oh come on now, if the survey said New Haven was the worst for Millennials, people would be all over it claiming it is proof how horrible Connecticut is. Why is this completely wrong because it goes against what you want to believe.

I would say Pratt & Whitney hiring 9,000 people here over five years is significant. And Electric Boat adding 900 just this year is also significant. Add in the others mentioned, it’s hard to say otherwise. Jay

You do not have to be making $350,000 per year to live well here. You don’t even have to be making half that amount. The median household income in Greenwich is $125,000. You telling me that 3/4 of the town does not live well? Jay
I have never read that--other than the article that was shared the other day by someone on this board. That is news to me. Where are the jobs in New Haven--that would be my question. Also, housing is not that reasonable for such a dicey city, safety-wise.

OK, fair enough, but, a family of 4 would not be able to live on that salary too well in Greenwich. They would live in a small home that is very old.

To live comfortably and own a home in lower Fairfield County (Greenwich, Stamford, New Canaan, Westport, etc.), a family of 4 buying today would have to bring home more than a 125 to live comfortably, most likely.

Of course, that’s why I said posters here promote studies that go along with their agenda or opinion. I don’t care which way they lean; they are almost always BS rankings with a tiny sample group (most being 1,000 people).

Until I see actual stats regarding CT’s job creation, I’m not buying that CT companies are “hiring at an insane clip”.

I see posters claiming how many millennials are moving here, so the growth and job creation must be insane - then when we see actual stats on lack of growth, many of the same posters say “but we can’t afford growth anyway, we don’t have room, it’s not always a good thing”.

C’mon. Which is it?

You can get a decent 4BR in Danbury area for less than 500-550, more like 300-450.

Especially in today’s market. Casually looking at real estate in the priciest lower FFC towns, I couldn’t believe the reductions. A 4000 square foot home for 700k in Westport, IIRC.
