JB,

I actually had to go back for the Middlebury, Yale, and Dartmouth incidents. First, the fact that you had to go back years for a couple of incidents sort of proves my point it's a non-issue. Second, you're missing out on key details. Third, it seems like what you're advocating is the "right" for people to say bombastic things with the comfort they don't have to socially account for said views, even if they don't have particular convictions about what they are saying ("Sartre, phone line one").

Dartmouth: There apparently was no evidence of such an event of an assault. Zero. That was something ginned up by the Blaze and Breitbart. Apparently students felt uncomfortable, but no-one was threatened or actually harassed. So swing and miss.

Middlebury: After reading up on it again holy heck the administration bungled that up. Honestly I'm not shocked with protests with underlying issues like that.

https://www.politico.com/magazine/st...y-melee-215195

"The students who agreed to invite Murray hadn’t known the complete back story on Murray’s 2007 visit. But a few faculty did, and their recollection was that it hadn’t gone well. Soon stories were spreading on campus that Murray, during the Q&A session, had told a black student that he probably would have been better off at a state university."

That may had been a rumor but one the AEI club and administration could have nipped in the bud if they were on the ball.

Also this:

"But the embellished and unflattering version made its way around the student body nevertheless, aided by an already tense climate. The day after Trump was elected, two Muslim students at Middlebury walked out of their dorm room to find “**** Muslims #Trump2016” on their door’s whiteboard. One week later, in town, two swastikas were found drawn on the door of a Jewish congregation center."

Horrific.

Yale: The letter was basically "If you find something offensive talk about it" put into the literal dumbest way ever and then horrific shock when people responded that the letter, itself, was incredibly offensive in pretty much every way.

3/3 misses. I'm not convinced.

Hopefully whoever buys them maintains a Ct presence. High Ridge Brands, hq in Stamford, likely to be sold off, in pieces.

An interesting article in The Hartford Courant on the changes going on in our state over the past decade. Population is down but median household income is up. Stamford overtook Hartford as the state’s third largest city. Interesting things noted on home values like home values in major cities are down but rents are up. Jay

The state has seen gains in manufacturing jobs and is betting on a renaissance in coming years. Let’s hope it works. Jay

I think they will. I think since their niche is both bulky and cheap, it would be freight cost prohibitive to import this stuff.

High Ridge Brands outsources all it's manufacturing and is mainly a marketing company who owns some brands and licenses the US presence of others. It's probable they already import many of their products like other major health and beauty companies.

I doubt one can import shampoo which retails at $1. The source, if Asian, would need to settle for perhaps, at most, a quarter. The tooling would all need to be bought again.

I know some at similar US corps. Most source in North America. Use highly automated facilities. I doubt many of the actual manufacturers will change much. The tooling is most often owned by the corps such as High Ridge, whether bought up front or per unit purchased, with enforceable contracts to pay tooling in full.

This will mainly impact the High Ridge staff IMO.
