and another retail business will open in their spot and hire retail workers.

Really optimistic there. The only surviving retailers that we're open before this were unicorns or those who own the building having the biz for years with no debt.

Those are the best case scenario. In most of those cases they are best leasing to someone else. The rent is more than they bring in.

Otherwise your talking chains from wall st.

They are tanking now more than most.

Who in the their right mind when this is over is buying retail stocks!?

What bank will lend.
Vacancies will surge

Default Potential Frontier Internet and Phone company Ch. 11 Bankrupt

Anyone use frontier ?

Bloomberg) -- Frontier Communications Corp. will skip interest bills due March 16, putting the debt-laden phone and broadband network on course for a default and a potential bankruptcy.

The omission affects some of it senior unsecured notes, Frontier said in a statement. More than $320 million was scheduled to be paid, according to Bloomberg data.

“We remain actively engaged in constructive discussions with our bondholders as the company continues to evaluate its capital structure with an eye to reducing debt and interest expense,” according to the statement.“

I don’t. I had it and switched to Optimum. Much better Internet performance.

This has been talked about for a few months now.

I hope so, but Federal economists are projecting Q2 unemployment rates of 20-30%.

We were at 3.5%.

Even during the Great Recession, I do not recall the published rate (excludes the discouraged) hitting 12%.

This freefall is unprecedented, at least since we recorded data accurately. (We did not do so in the Great Depression, btw. Recording was hardly a science).

It's gonna be a wild ride.

Jobless claims reach nearly 100,000 in CT for scale, the total net job losses in Connecticut in the Great Recession were about 127,000.

Approximately 27,000 unemployment claims were made in the state since Friday, bringing the total since March 13 to about 99,000, the Department of Labor reported. A typical week is about 2,500 claims. A little over 10,000 this Monday.

This week the state might see worst job claims in state history.

Tonight’s Channel 3 News had a segment on the real estate market. They interviewed a shoreline real estate agent who said their phones are ringing off the hook for the past week with New Yorkers looking to get out of the city. They are looking for short and long term rentals and to buy. This is just like after 9/11. Jay

There was an article in the N.Y. Times about the same thing (or maybe WSJ?) with reference to the Hamptons. I couldn’t read the article though, subscription required.

And Florida too they are seeing increase New Yorkers coming in the airports

“If you look at what happened in New York, when they did the stay at home order, what did people do?” DeSantis said. “Well, a lot of people fled the city. ... We’re getting huge amounts of people flying in.”

They have to quarantine for 14 days also CT and NJ residents
