The Connecticut Department of Labor is projecting employment in the state will grow by 13.5% or more than 208.000 jobs. That’s impressive since Connecticut has recovered only 166,800 jobs, or 57% of the 292,400 jobs lost in March and April 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 lockdown. I hope they are right. Jay

Won't shock me. Dozens of states are soaring now, recovering jobs lost. Shutting economies down creates an artificial bump.

I'm actually getting tad disturbed at too many recruiters calling.

I just hope all who lost jobs are amongst the newly hired.

A new study by commercial real estate services firm CBRE found that 27,200 New Yorkers moved to Connecticut from New York City in 2020. That is the fifth most popular state after New York State itself, New Jersey, Florida, California and Pennsylvania. What’s more significant though is the percent increase in the number from the year before. It is up 66.4% from 2019! That’s a lot but not something we did not know. Jay

The problem for many is where to find willing workers.
The govt has their fingers on the scale keeping a great many on the sidelines with the Universal Basic Income program!

In other states they are facing problems of not having enough workers for jobs. Reasons because once some got laid off they either went back to school or started their own side hustle

Or collected generous unemployment

The issue is in CT too. I have friends that can’t find workers

I’m hearing that a LOT here too. Heck, I even saw posts on TicTok of employers begging for applicants here, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Jay

Yeah, it’s insane. A local pizza joint had a two hour wait for a pie last week. When I went to pick it up, a big sign at the front said they’re having difficulty finding employees with a stack of applications. Strange times.

A UConn Think Tank is advocating using the $7 billion in federal Covid-19 aid by and our Rainy Day Fund investing in our economy. They don’t say specifically how or what that is. What do you think? Jay
