More than likely correct, but I'm not sure how many TRICARE members Aetna has. It is clearly stated that TRICARE will be headquartered in KY. https://news.aetna.com//aetna-to-acquire-humana/

And how about this line.."Transaction projected to realize $1.25 billion in annual synergies in 2018". There will be MOVES in both States, cuts will happen in both States, but I think CT is getting the raw end of this deal. The fact that Aetna won't speak about Hartford is kind of an issue.

When Aetna bought Coventry Health Care in 2013, Aetna had 6,700 employees. Today, after the merger, they are down to 6,100.

Hope this plays out well. Remember, it wasn't too long ago Aetna was criticizing the budget for tax reasons.

Apparently, $400m wasn't a big enough incentive for UTC. UTC Expanding With 380 Jobs In Florida - Hartford Courant

They are building a $115m State of the Art Facility in West Palm Beach, creating 380 jobs.

hey just broke ground on a new facility in East Hartford, but no article mentions jobs created. Most said they are just moving people from the old building into the new. Is that correct?

Even if you figure 80% of savings are people, and use a liberal 200k saved/head, that would be 5,000 employees..

Could Branford be the next tech hot spot? Branford biotech startup lands $18M investment | HartfordBusiness.com

I know there is an article floating around that said Hartford is Top 5 for Growth in Technology, but I would venture New Haven Metro, which includes Branford, has the upper hand.

Steady employment growth, growing jobs and well paying ones (more than likely) at that. Let's duplicate this model across CT.

Biotech is definitely one of the areas the budding startup ecosystem in Connecticut should focus on. I am very excited about what's happening in Branford.

This is good news. The new building at 100 College Street in New Haven will have a lot of medical research facilities as well as serving as the headquarters for Alexion. Neighboring 300 George Street is a large building that was converted to medical research as well and has for years housed researchers from Yale. The building was so popular that the owners built 100 College to meet further demand and word is that they are looking to do another building across the street in the next phase of the city's Downtown Crossing project. Open for business, are we?

Hartford Courant

Notice that Hallmark is adding jobs, once again out of state.

In the last two days, companies with MAJOR presence in CT (UTC and Hallmark) have expanded operations outside Connecticut. UTC will create 380 jobs in Florida and Hallmark will shed 540 jobs. 920 jobs that could have been in CT, gone.

Sad to hear.

Enfield community will hurt from this loss.

I was glad to see they will let employees apply in other states for open positions.
