Here is an interesting article on Connecticut's business development program. Less deals this year than past but still pretty good. Jay

It appears that the state is going to be courting more international companies. Jay

That's a bummer they really need to lower instead of raise. It's ridiculous. Hopefully when a new Governor comes in they can fix the mess this state is in economically.

Will not happen unless state employee cost drops big time, as in 401k, no pension for those in 1st half of worklife, and overall reduction in force.

Employees with legacy are the elephant in the room. Avoid cutting that, taxes will keep rising, and corps will keep seeking states with friendly business climates.

Not doing this to be a negative nelly, but this paints the point talked about by many people here. The fact that our job growth is producing low wage jobs is damping CT ability to grow. Lembo (who I like, seems like a straight shooter) points directly to low paying jobs (specifically the withholding's CT is not getting) as a sign of caution.

"Of greatest concern are the last two consecutive months of state job losses and the related negative impact on the withholding portion of the income tax." (Comptroller projects increased deficit of $122.4M | HartfordBusiness.com)

This is going to be a continued problem if well paying jobs don't come back.

$350 mill is a rounding error with Comrade Malloy.
