I get that but it really just sped up the inevitable. It's the age of M&A, and companies with high data-processing and regulatory costs in particular benefit a lot from economies of scale. Like you said, they will always chase ever increasing profits and merging achieves this.

(Stating the obvious, which sometimes we forget) -- Profit is the reason corporations exist. Everything else is gravy. Good, bad, or indifferent.

Interesting article which notes that Connecticut has been named the No. 2 state in the country for Captive Insurance. A tenth company will set up their Captive Insurance division in our state under a state program to encourage this. Jay

Jackson Labs at UConn Medical center in Farmington announced that it has hired its 200th employee which is well on its way to it goal of 300 in 10 years. The lab opened only a little more than a year ago. Hopefully the state's investment in this will pay off. Jay

Default CT needs a saving grace.

I hope that the CT government will listen to it's people, declining population, businesses leaving, they need to something to make this state more attractive.
