Even though many people think things are not good in Connecticut, 24/7 Wall St named us the second best state to live in. Massachusetts was number one. It takes into account many things including the economy and wealth. That says a lot, particularly that things are not all doom and gloom as some people here always are quick to point out. Jay

Someone will be along shortly (most likely from another state) to tell us how hard it is to open a business in CT, how high the taxes are, and how bad our Governor is.

They will also probably throw in how the Democrats screwed everything up.

I mean they kind of did...

Not trying to give the Republicans a halo and Democrats red horns but blame goes out everywhere in our state government. Sad thing is that you can't be honest in a Democracy or you'll lose votes so no one is taking responsibility and accepting their mess up.

Lets not forget that CT has had Republican Governors for the consecutive years of 1991-2010. They had veto power although I suppose during some of those terms the house and senate had 2/3rd majority and could over ride vetoes. I don't know how many times that happened if at all.

I personally consider L. Wiecker a Republican, but if you remove him then the consecutive years are 1995-2010. Blame should be placed equally among (D's) and (R's) Neither side has come up with any thing innovative during this time.

Despite this I wouldn't want to live in another state than CT, but MA, NY, and CA I would consider.

What are you on cloud nine or something? Guess you haven't seen the budget numbers yet????? Talk of new taxes! Also Dems have been running the show for awhile, and I really can't see how you can blame the GOP here. Before you accuse me of being part of the GOP, I'm not. I'm independent. Amazes how people defend their political partys to no end despite their screw ups.

Dannel had the opportunity to change the state employee compensation and benefit structure back in 2011, but he caved at the 11th hour. Considering that increasing state employee comp and benefits are the main driver of the budget problems, today's budget issues lies squarely with him. Sure he can rightly spread some blame to Rell and Rowland, but no one forced him to run for governor. His inability to take responsibility for the budget mess is a big reason why his approval numbers are dismal, IMO.
