Because if the lobster wasn't soaking in butter, it'd be dried out and nasty by the time it hit 2PM in the restaurant. The butter isn't added to the lobster roll after the fact. It comes with the lobster itself. No butter = no lobster.

Just came back from BBQ and they were cooking Lobster from Stew Leonards. $3.50 a pound. I'm not a fan of them.

Never liked their lobsters... too much time in tanks I think.

I had the lobster roll at the Guilford Lobster Pound this weekend. So-so lobster roll, AMAZING view/location.

Maybe if they were busier the lobster would have been more fresh with turnover. It was pretty dead when we were there (cloudy day).

Interesting. I know nothing about them but that's interesting to note. Unless they replicate the ocean/sea water they came from?

Did you guys know Lobster compost is a big business? They actually throw all the scraps into a pile on acres of land and turn it into compost. Awesome nutrient for your gardens! I actually had my family bag all the scraps and I threw them in my compost pile. Put them underneath my current pile and I have no stink, no animals. :-)

I should have you guys send me the scraps. lol

Decided to try Lobster Landing in Clinton today. As we passed through Madison, my wife noticed an antique market in a green and asked me to stop in. Low and behold in the parking lot was the High Tide truck, so we shared a roll - definitely top notch, and the owner/chef was pretty cool to talk with also. 10 min later we were at Lobster Landing, and as soon as we pulled in we knew we had come to the right place. BY FAR, this was the absolute best roll either of us have ever had. Hints of lemon and lobster juice mixed in with the butter put it over the top. Again - absolute best ever.

Next up to try, Seven Seas.

So glad you guys liked High Tide! We've been a fan of Rich and his food since we moved here. Nice guy and well-made, nicely presented meals.

Yeah, he's a cool guy. Gave me a sample of his chowder too, which was great. Definitely knows his stuff.

Ok, so were you guys joking about Seven Seas making a good lobster roll? We went this weekend, and it was probably the worst I've had in CT. Overcooked, hot (not warm), dry, barely any butter, and all claw meat. The fries were great, but other than that it was a complete was of $20.
