That area has been a problem since the Brickyard was on Allyn street; the same issues affected Club Blu. The problem has to do with the kind of establishments and patrons they draw. I think this is one of those times where business owners need to band together and hire some security/protection staff for the street because just watching what's going on inside the club isn't enough.

Thugs coming in downtown and thugs roaming downtown is why I been saying, downtown is not safe.

Then again, until you get shot or robbed, downtown is still considered safe to most people.

I've stopped coming downtown because of the number of incidents lately. Even before the latest string of shootings, there would often be people walking around with backpacks selling drugs. It just doesn't make sense to go to Hartford when much classier and safer West Hartford is nearby.

I don't have a problem with going downtown, but you got to very alert and be on the look out for being a potential victim, like someone coming up on you.

But having worked in downtown hartford over a few years and a good general interest in news and crime, I know how to protect myself and avoid potential dangerous situations.

Then again, most people are not street smart or know how the thugs operate in downtown and know how they can disappear into the ghetto by foot in a matter of minutes.

Good luck with the police finding the thug once he's back in the ghetto. LOL. Basically, your sh1t will never be recovered.

How is this possible? Malloy signed a gun control bill April 4th this year. You mean to tell me criminals are still using illegal guns in this state?!?!

This is one of the many fallacies perpetuated by the gun lobby. Individual jurisdictional laws have little effect when guns can freely cross borders. That's why we need federal legislation.

To do what? They're already violating the law. What's one more?

My point exactly. Criminals don't follow laws. These new laws do nothing but hurt us law abiding gun owners.

If you want to talk about federal laws and guns crossing our borders perhaps we should take a harder look at Attorney General Eric Holder. Do we know how many guns that POS put on the streets?!?!
