Hello

I currently live in Hartford, CT. I work in NYC. The commute has gotten too long. I saw a house I like in Downtown Danbury. Is it a good place to live? Is there any other cities I should look into? How bad is the rush-hour commute at 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM 6 days a week?

Just move to Trumbull and downsize the house a bit. You will easily save 2 hrs per day compared to Danbury and costs would be may be 25% more.

You'd have to be insane to make that commute by car. I knew someone who did and he had to leave at 5:30AM-6AM and then leave the office between 7PM-8PM. It was still brutal.

On top of that, downtown Danbury is kinda lousy.

Why not look into a city on the train line that's more accessible to NYC like Norwalk or Stamford. Even Stratford if you're looking to buy a house on a budget. Better places to live and infinitely better for the commute.

It only took about 1 1/2 on a Sunday Morning at 80 MPH. But the rush-hour is brutal

Yes it is. So I'm not sure why you're asking about driving from Danbury for a commute.

So cities to look into are Stratford, Stamford, Trumbull, and Norwalk? What about Bridgeport and New Haven? A person in my job said I-95 has no or barely little traffic at rush hour unless there was an accident or construction. I could also do Waterbury.

What?! 95 has some of the worst rush hour traffic in the ENTIRE NATION. There's traffic on 95 for absolutely no reason in the middle of the day constantly. The exact opposite of what your coworker is saying. I would cease taking advice from them.

We're suggesting Stamford, Norwalk, Stratford, et al because they're on the train line so you don't have to drive.

There is no easy car commute to NYC. Period.

Waterbury is NOT a good option. If you're on a budget, I suggest Stratford or even Milford and take the train. The commute will be long, but nowhere near the other options you're exploring.

So basically avoid Hartford, Waterbury, Danbury, New Haven, and Bridgeport. Is the train a metro-north New Haven Line so will it go right into Grand Central? And avoid taking advice from my co-worker.

Will a move to the NYC or Bronx area be good? Or will I get a bullet to the back of my head.
