I'll be passing through western and central CT each of the next two weekends. Just wondering if the leaves have begun to change color in your area, and if so, which areas of the state you'd recommend checking out for especially scenic foliage.

FYI I usually take I-95 or the Merritt Parkway/Wilbur Cross Parkway when driving through CT, but would gladly take a detour into areas such as Litchfield County if you guys would recommend checking it out.

Thanks in advance.

I know on 84 Central CT (Meriden, Southington, Cheshire) the leaves are changing and are bright red and orange.

Yes, I was just in Litchfield County and they're beginning to really turn.

They should be changing heavily along 15 too in a few weeks. Not sure your route, but an easy detour would also be the Killingworth/Madison/Guilford/Chester/Essex area of the lower CT River valley just north of 95. That area will be gorgeous once they turn.

Merrit South today. Lots still green in some areas. Its funny to see some areas past peak. Some areas vivid colors. Some areas all green. Some areas partially turning. Strange. I don't remember it being in pockets like this. Usually its pretty uniform. No?

Warm days/nights past 2 weeks really put things on hold. Maybe that's why there's pockets.

Remember that some trees have been changing colors since August!

I don't remember if I created a new thread about this or if I posted the question in this very thread, but I did commented and brought this oddity to everyone's attention. I even started to wonder if there was some sort of disease spreading. lol

The early coloring of some trees might explain the past peak patches.

Idk. To me, colored leaves mean decaying, dying leaves. I like 100% greenery.
