I purchased a Jeep Wrangler last month...

Where can I legally take it off-roading in the area?

Is there even a legal place? That would have been great. I am a former motocross racer and I never knew of any legal place for any offroad activities. Sometimes ,when we were not racing, we went to Thomaston Dam. Jeeps are another story though........easier to do it illegally on 2 wheels.....

Do you mean "drive on a maintained dirt road" or "drive through challenging terrain"?

Litchfield County has lots of town roads that are dirt surfaced, but not even slightly challenging for a Wrangler.

To really go "Jeeping" I'd recommend Colorado or Utah.

There are no legal off-road trails in CT. Sorry, just another reason this state sucks!

CT Frowns upon these types of activities. As a former cross country enduro racer I can relate to the difficulty finding places to go off road. Unless you know someone who will let you drive on their land, I suggest you move to NM, NV or CO. These places are mecca for this activity. In CT you'll be tased (or worse) by the "police" if caught illegally on property

I don't think I am quite ready to move out over this.

Disappointing to not find anything, however.

You'll have to be satisfied with being able to get out on the roads during a blizzard.
