And on top of their "record keeping", or lack thereof...

- Upton has a huge warm bias and is usually fairly conservative with cold/snow
- Binghamton is probably the most conservative with snow amounts in the Northeast
- Philly usually blows everything out of proportions regardless of weather (Issues advisories for just about anything)
- Burlington is pretty good
- Boston... the snow maps...
- Albany is pretty good-- maybe a tad laid back which is cool
- State College-- very laid back/lack of notice/advisories.

Gotta love our NWS

OK- my rant is over
Albany actually somehow shows record warm/cold months/years going back to the late 1700s (although daily record hi/lows only go back to late 1800s like the other stations)! If that data is reliable looks like before the mid-late 1800s when a lot of the older NWS stations got started and a lot of the record cold events occurred we had some warm winters/hot summers that rival today's data! I always wondered how they have that data and no other city does.

Another bug I have with OKX is until recently they would show/predict exact amounts (i.e. 2.4" for NYC, 3.6" for Bridgeport, etc.) where the others just had ranges (i.e. 2-4", 3-5", etc.)

By 8am snow starts for Western half so anyone commuting East of Waterbury before 9am should be fine. By 11am it should be snowing entire area and close to changing over at coast if temps get warm enough.

NAM12z on left and Hi-Res NAM12z on right. Basically says this is what will fall between 7am-1pm. (not storm total)
So basically what your saying is my 9:30 drive to Danbury tomorrow will suck and the drive home at 12 PM will be even worse??

Pretty much but nobody can say for sure until they look out the window. Roads may be just wet at 9:30 and raining at 12. We just don't have answers to those questions. That's why it much be so hard to be a meteo and go on air and say these things. They can be different that hour. Hope it goes smooth for you

Save this link guys.. NWS Burlington creates this and incorporates all NWS office snow total forecast.

The legend is different but if Upton says 2-4, they use 3-5 on this map since 4 is possible

Good source to have handy

Current temps, radar and surface pressure. Low pressure formed off the Virginia coast again and moving up. Rain snow line is in southern NJ right now. Snowing here which is 6 of the last 9 days flakes have fallen.

Snow started a bit sooner this morning. Lightly though

LOTS OF DRY AIR in between. We may stop for a while. lol Not sure who kept pushing over 5" of snow. There's little moisture with this one

How about we call this one "an underachiever" instead of bust? LOL! For once a storm underachieves. All winter there have been over achievers.

Ok ok.. lets wait until the day is actually over before saying it. lol

Latest Data from the 3. GFS might have the right idea here with only 0.11" precip at BDR. LOL!

As far as the February 26 Storm..

They all have "something" but I'm not impressed at all.

Canadian well OTS.
GFS too far out but throws us snow showers.
Euro a mess

No consistency on a storm big enough to impact us....right now.

Got to work, snowing hard down here. Roads are a mess but I think they will improve by later on. Be careful out there because it is very slippery at the moment.
