If it snows I'll be outside with my heat gun melting it as it falls.

I still have a 5' pack from the plow in front of my house plus the front and back yard are still about 70% covered. I need the temps, and the sun to change it's path for the warmer months so it hits my yard at a better angle.

I was hoping that last nights downpour would help but it didn't seem to do much for melting surprisingly. The more of my grass I see the more I frown. It is so soggy and matted down a good thatching is taking place for sure.

At first I wasn't surprised by Central Park being "only" the 18th coldest as (global warming?) 8 of the top 10 coldest Marches in Central Park are from 1900 and before and only one (the very very anamolous March of 1960 that is the coldest March at many of the "newer" stations like LGA and Bridgeport) is after 1916.

But Boston being the coldest so far this far into the month is quite impressive since they have a record almost as long as Central Park's (unless they are only counting the years since Logan Airport has existed (though that would still be going back to the 1920s), I think before that they would record weather in the Boston Common but the BOX website seems to count it all as a continuous record from 1872 on.....Central Park goes back to 1869 though the actual weather station has been in different parts of the park, its been in the current location since 1920 though).

You are probably right, since most of the other historically cold Marches in the last 50 or so years (i.e. 1960 (yes I know that's a little over 50 years), 1967, 1984, 1993, 1996) were quite snowy (especially 1960).

Everyone talks about how severe this winter was. Actually it was simply COLD. Not very snowy up at bdl for the year. A way above normal february as far as snowfall then a way below normal march. March barely even had any snow. ONLY A TRACE AT BDL! I'd rather it just be warm if there's going to be no snow.

Agreed.......cold was a really big issue. The cold really wore me and probably most of us down this season....and my heating bill.

First day of spring is here and I actually look forward to this date every year. Anything can still happen snowwise but winter is now officially over.

Little snow? Okay buddy. More snow in 2013-2014 compared with last winter.

Great post. You give me an idea with this comment. Maybe a new graph I need to do.

Since snow is counted from July to June. Lets look at the other months...

Windsor Locks (BDL) Monthly Snowfall

November 2013: Trace
December 2013: 12.7"
January 2014: 10.3"
February 2014: 27.1"

Total at the start of March was 50.1". Normal to that point was 33".
That means they were 17 inches above normal which is snowy.

March: Trace

Currently BDL has 50.1". Normal to this point is 37.2". So they are more than a foot above normal still. (25% above normal) That's snowy. However... if they end up with 50.1" then yeah... the entire season wont look too snowy but will be normal.

March normal snowfall is over half foot at BDL so they have some catching up to do

Yes, take away 1/3 of the season and then you have an average. Starting to just think this is bait.

We had nearly the snowiest February on record. And that's still not good enough for you? And further, you use this to justify your doom and gloom back in fall? C'mon.
