One other note...

We are always quick to say when NWS is incorrect...but they seem to have nailed this storm (it really was not a storm, more a front coming through and throwing moisture into cold air). They said 1 to 3 or maybe 2 to 4 inches total.

Here is the current snowfall reports around the region. I got about 1.8 inches but hard to tell as it mixed with rain and now is about 1 inch or so. In any event NWS seemed to hit it perfect - everyone is reporting a general 1 to 3 inches...and there was a bit more snow after 12:00 so most locations would have 2 to 4 inches - just what NWS siad would be totals. :

So is the prediction for Saturday so far a dumping of snow or ice? I was under the impression more of an ice storm but would totally welcome a solid 6-10".

How about we use "The National Weather Service" ? They are saying Snow to Ice to rain (for the coast)

"As of right now" all models show snow to ice. Surface temps below freezing with some runs in some locations. Nothing is supporting widespread rain "as of right now". Anyone who is saying different is grasping for straws and obviously using a hat to "guess".

THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS AND THERE IS A 6-12 HOUR DIFFERENCE IN
THE TIMING BETWEEN THE OPERATIONAL EC...CMC AND GFS. THE TRACK IS
THE MOST CONSISTENT ASPECT OF THE SYSTEM AND WITH A DECENT HIGH TO
THE NE IT SHOULD BE COLD ENOUGH AT THE ONSET FOR SNOW WITH A GRADUAL
WARMING OF THE ATMOSPHERE. THE TIMING AND EXTENT OF THE CHANGEOVER
STILL NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. THE GFS IS MUCH WARMER THAN THE EC TO
START WHICH IS A KNOWN BIAS OF THE MODEL. IT IS LIKELY ERODING THE
COLD AIR TOO QUICKLY.

I haven't said my thoughts or a forecast... It's too far out. Best thing to do is ask them to provide proof and why they are forecasting what they are.

Yeah, I pretty much stick with reading what you write, my feeling is that's what most users do as well.

Those details 5 days out are impossible to know. Remember I mentioned an "unpredictable" band "could" setup today? It never did hence why no 3-5" totals. But 2-3" did happen just in some spots not widespread.

With this weekend it all depends how fast the mid levels warm-up and the track and that's not something we know until hours or a day before and even still weather changes instantly as we always see.

Right now, there is support for snow to start. That's a given.

Here's what the Euro says for snow totals. Yeah, that's 12-18" for interior CT. Do I believe this? NO. But lets see the future updates and see what they say.

Get ready for more white stuff either way. 2" or 10"... its going to fall Saturday evening/night

Here is a forecast from a professional meteorologist about this weekends storm....he says "Current models suggest this will turn into a mostly rain event in the I-95 corridor":

? Is he wrong?

Measured 3 inches total here in Danbury at my house. Not too bad for the first snowy day The last inch was actually pretty "fluffy" too.
