I could see a lot of continuous lightning to the north, but it seemed high up in the atmosphere. It was cool to watch.

NWS says below normal long range ...it WILL be above normal..you can almost bank it.. But you know, it doesn't FEEL that bad this summer. I am not beaten up by the heat and humidity yet. Anyone else feel that way?

There is no way I am having an above normal July. I've dropped below 70 every single night and yet to breach 90. Urban heat island effect?

Normal is upper 60s/ for lows and low 80s for highs...
You're normals would be lower than BDR so you might be mid 60s for lows.

Call it near normal but technically it's been above normal.
9th warmest first half of July at BDR.

You don't have to have 90s to be above normal. We keep forgetting (thanks to recent torching years) that normal is not as hot as we think. lol

This should interesting everyone...

Number of 90s so far in 2014 up to 7/23.

Burlington 3.
Concord 3.
Boston 4.
Bridgeport 1.
Portland 0.

Hartford(BDL) 10(?)

As I said in June...I want an inspection of that station done A.S.A.P. Or stop those Jumbo Jets from coming in. LOL

Good points, but I can't recall any summers besides 2009 where I didn't crack 90 at this point... I'm including cooler decades as well (80s/90s).

Yup. Heatwaves and 90s VERY hard to come by this year. We typically need a southeast ridge to get it and thats been hard to sustain so there's no real hardcore lasting warmth to help push us over 90.

But you're right, Definitely hard not to hit 90 once. Years it's happened for us most likely. (I used years BDR only hit once or none)

2009
2004
2000
1996
1992

Looking at the latest GFS... still no high threat for 90s. Even Upper 80s not going to happen except I think Sunday there might be the chance.

Look at the dewpoints. Aside from Sundday and Monday humidity, it's not looking like Summer. But of course the sun might make it feel like summer.

After this weekend we might struggle past the 70s for couple days. Will feel like September.

Actually today does. Clouds, Wind, 70s, dry
