Be an interesting weather week in January As opposed to a trend setter, I see it as a wasted opportunity if you are a snow lover...you want these in winter...not now. You only get so many of these setups in a year.

Only difference is at that time of year this low would pull down arctic air. The air behind this one will actually warm up ..could see upper 60's next week in some places.

These setups typically come October to March. It's actually good (if you want an active winter) for them to start now.

I learned the atmosphere doesn't change on a dime so it takes time to build, change, and establish. Seeing a stormy period now is a good sign that we might continue into winter. Or maybe it relaxes first half and comes back for 2nd?

If I recall we didn't have 1 blizzard all winter last year. I think only 1 or 2 strong coastals

Oh definitely ! Tommorrow we should get more rain coverage but yeah, imagine snow was forecasted to fall today and most areas got nothing or just 1"? The way it looked we would of heard maybe 2-4" today and 6-10" tomorrow.

Goodbye loose leaves. I wont get technical so lets just say the coastal storm is strengthening. Should be windy until Friday.

Latest GFS says we'll see our first snowflakes next weekend.

Maybe to Saturday. Haven't checked the latest. Rain should clear Friday but winds continue.

Just enjoying this storm.

It's nice I can keep my south facing windows open with wind driven rains.

True NorEaster! Gusting over 25mph every 15 minutes now.

Current radar & 500mb height winds to get an idea where the moisture is moving towards. Couple intense rotating waves

I think those 2 on Long Island rotate and skim the CT coast but mostly stay on the sound.

These are the heavy bands impossible to predict. It's where that heavy blinding snowfall rates would be in winter, hard to see these until the moment.
