^^^ Wow, that's bad... I hope everyone has a wood stove up there. After Monday, it gets very cold...

As for CT, I've never seen so much temp variety before... these are live temps around 9:20 PM. Does anyone know why there's pockets if 30s, but pockets of 50s resurfacing? Are the cool temps caused by radiative cooling, and the warmer temps from downdrafts? Danbury was stationary around 43 for a few hours but jumped to 53F last observation.

Danbury, CT went from 59℉ to 42℉ back to 53℉ within 8hrs.

A 17 degree drop in few hrs then a 11 degree rise in the last 2 hrs.

SSW winds doing the work.

NWS-OKX mentioned this on their FB page as well as how that (the SSW winds) took the original Central Park high of 62 (which tied a record) and after going down into the mid 50s for about an hour or two brought it back up to a new record of 65. I'm starting to think 70 might be possible in some places but there's supposed to be more clouds/rain too which might dial temperatures back a little.

Look what GFS MOS has. mid to upper 60s in CT!! Now that's what I'm talking about. If its gonna be warm lets just shatter the records and be interesting. 50s is too boring.

No disruptive storms to talk about yet. On & off rain today then gets heavy at night.

NWS Upton Discussion Highlights.

  • THE HIGHEST POTENTIAL FOR DENSE FOG WILL BE THIS MORNING.
  • STILL EXPECTING A VERY ANOMALOUSLY WARM DAY WITH RECORD TEMPS POSSIBLE ONCE AGAIN. WE START THE DAY OUT WITH VERY MILD TEMPS...ALREADY IN THE MID 60S IN SOME LOCATIONS.
  • CHANCES WILL INCREASE FOR SHOWERS THROUGH THE DAY. MORE STEADY RAIN SHOWERS WITH MODERATE TO POSSIBLY BRIEFLY HEAVY RAINFALL DEVELOPS TOWARDS MONDAY MORNING.
  • MONDAY NIGHT...A VERY REMARKABLE CHANGE TO A COLDER AIRMASS AS FRONT AND LOW EXIT WELL OFFSHORE AND STRONG HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS INTO THE GREAT LAKES. PRECIP COULD END AS SOME SNOW FLURRIES AND VERY LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS TO NORTH AND WEST
  • FOR TUESDAY...A MUCH COLDER DAY IS IN STORE. EXPECTING A LOT OF INSTABILITY
STRATOCUMULUS TO DEVELOP FROM THE COLD POOL ALOFT AND CONTINUED
NORTHWEST FLOW TO CONTINUE THE COLD AIR ADVECTION. THE INSTABILITY
ALONG WITH LOW LEVEL MOISTURE COULD ALSO GIVE SOME SNOW SHOWERS
ACROSS THE REGION AS WELL AND THIS IS CONVEYED FROM LATEST
    ECMWF...GFS...AND NAM MODEL QPF FIELDS.
  • ANY SNOW SHOWERS WILL DIMINISH LATER TUESDAY EVENING AS STRONGER
SUBSIDENCE MOVES IN COURTESY OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING IN.
  • WEDNESDAY... DRY... COLDER AIR WEDNESDAY WILL BE FOLLOWED BY NEAR NORMAL TEMPS ARE
EXPECTED THURSDAY IN WEAK WARM AIR ADVECTION BEHIND THE HIGH AND
AHEAD OF THE FRONT. THE SEASONABLY CHILLY WEATHER CONTINUES LATE
    IN THE WEEK.

Wow, wild week coming up!

Obviously there's today (ALREADY 66 in Central Park and as was said 62 even in Danbury) and still in the 50s tomorrow. NWS is now showing a chance of snow showers (i.e. 1" or less) during Christmas Eve and 20s all day even in NYC for Christmas Day. Then back to upper 30s/around 40 for the rest of the week/the week.

(I know Cambium said all this just above but I'm still amazed!)

It will be interesting to see if December ends up above or below normal. It's still below normal but I think today and tomorrow will push it above, then Tuesday/Wednesday back to below and the remaining "seasonable" days will complete the picture.

That reminds me... As of Dec 21, 2013

BDR Monthly Mean 34.6° -2.3 below normal
BDL Monthly Mean 29.7° -3.5° below normal

Perfect timing for the front and High Pressure. Snow and Cold for Christmas Eve and Christmas. A Christmas miracle? lol That's how kids should remember and celebrate the winter holidays.
