Hi-Res NAM saying snow around 6-7pm for Southern NY/CT by 8pm over Long Island. 6hr total here.

Enough to wet the roads and refreeze. Hope DOT is ready since the salt washed away by now.

Special Statement Issued

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR SOUTHERN
CONNECTICUT...NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AND SOUTHEAST NEW YORK.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED WITH A COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE
LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY THIS EVENING. A FEW SNOW SHOWERS
COULD BE LOCALLY HEAVY...CAUSING SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED
VISIBILITIES AND POSSIBLY A QUICK DUSTING OF SNOW.

Discussion

LOW LEVEL INSTABILITY IS SIGNIFICANT THIS EVENING WITH SFC TO 950 HPA LAPSE RATES IN EXCESS OF 9 C / KM ALONG WITH NARROW CAPE (50-100 J) UP TO 600 HPA. THINK WE`RE LOOKING AT SNOW SQUALLS WITH SOME SNOW PELLETS/GRAUPEL THAT RAPIDLY MOVES THROUGH. USED THE WFO BURLINGTON SNOW SQUALL STUDY THAT SUPPORTS THIS THINKING

Trace snow amount here in Danbury! By now, it's over, but what a change.

I'd say about 1/2" here in southern Westchester, it was really quick though I don't think it even lasted 10 minutes!

Not more satisfying than that. Heavy snow squall in New Rochelle at 7pm then I drove through VERY heavy squall on I95 in Norwalk at 8:15pm with reduced visibilities.. Came home to 1/2" of snow everywhere and very slippery roads.

Merry Christmas all. We got a white Christmas here.

This was I95.

My Deck. I put Santa out there for good luck. :-)

At least we got a coating for Christmas. I was afraid we would have a brown & muddy Christmas. I was really depressed when all the snow from the previous 2 weeks melted in this 60 degree & rainy weather we had the last couple of days.

Merry Christmas everyone!!
