If snow like we've been having becomes a regularity, this state ought to make an extensive trail system for riding snowmoblies (and ATV's in the spring/summer/autumn) like they have up in Northern Maine.
Well I snowshoed this morning, there's tons of places to do that. But I still hate snow

You move north and I'll move south. Or west

I think what you mean to say is "Connecticut's most popular recreational snow activities are not in line with my own preferences." There is plenty to "show for it" here, just not what you are into. The Airline Trail and state parks/forest near my house get plenty of winter traffic from cross country skiers, skate skiers, and snowshoers. As piddly as the hills are, CT ski areas are packed every weekend and holiday. There are plenty of local places (frozen ponds and lakes) to ice skate. And on and on...

I am pretty excited that winter finally showed up!

Hey Papa, I see you like to ride stuff! Me too! I just "retired" from motocross racing last season. I was semi-pro for district 34....I raced MX at Englishtown,NJ and tracks in NY. I could never figure out why CT was left out with places to ride.
Back to weather again......sorry.

Snow has always been a regularity in the state for the most part, at least as far back as I can recall. For me since I'm not a skier and have only been snowmobiling once just enjoy having the ground and surroundings coated in something other than dead leaves and yellow grass.

Here is the way to do that. Bungee a snow shovel on the front of your car; drive southwest.

When you get to someplace where somebody asks you "What's that thing?", you've arrived.

Actually jumped straight in the air when the wind gust came along.
