I have to admit, Winter Satellite &Temps produce the best looking maps of all seasons. IMO I guess.

1pm Cold Temps. Struggling past mid teens here. Normal is 40. Nuts.

Went to grab firewood without gloves... I guess was a mistake after 10 minutes. LOL

It's -18C well out into the Atlantic. Funny how those clouds start off the coast like that. Those clouds are well below zero F

No...end...in...sight..

No thaw, no warming period being shown for another 2 weeks.

Again, anything can change past 10 days but it hasn't for past 4 weeks. lol

Another Arctic Blast mid next week and again end of next week and maybe again around March 7th time frame.

Are we going to mid March staying in the freezer?
If I read the chart right, Danbury barely gets above freezing the next two weeks, including on Sunday (I remember when they were talking low 40s up there and near 50 by NYC).

Does this mean they don't get any RAIN out of this up I-84 way and it's all snow and ice?

Today makes 27 days.

Interesting that not only was #2 recent (2009) but none of the top 10 was in the early years of BDR's record (or indeed, only #10 is before the late 70s).

BOX website is showing that some of those clouds briefly got into Providence and Boston last night and kept them from going subzero (in fact I believe both stayed over 5-deg as a result overnight). Even BDL didn't go below zero so I'm not sure if they got the clouds too.

NAM12z sounding animation Sat 10am to Sun 7am for Bridgeport, CT. I know this is technical but its pretty cool because it shows the entire column in the atmosphere during the storm.

Each frame is 3 hrs. Long story short, the models trended colder with the mid level temps but the surface and 2000 foot level gets warm and therefore changes over. NAM says after 7pm Saturday at BDR. So it will be snowing for a few hours there.

Latest NWS Snow Total Forecast through Sunday 1pm.

Looks like Boston misses and Philly gets it.
Nice snowstorm for PA and even Litchfield county.. (should change over there)

Here's why... Not the best looking storms, very disorganized but its basically pushing the jet stream north and warm air is filtering in.

Anyone north of the colored lines is all snow.

Anyone south of the thick blue line is all rain.

Anyone in between is mixing, changing, or even rain

As the system moves, the air gets colder again but the moisture is moving out.

The first pic shows 3-4" inches in SWCT, but that's below the blue line in the other pic which would be all rain (I'm guessing that means no ice after the rain)?

How much accumulation would be left after rain (ie: am I going to be shoveling )?

Yup... gonna come before the changeover. So Saturday 4-10pm. I say stay off the roads after 7pm? I think things got faster a bit.

Another tough shoveling choice. Shovel before the changeover so its not heavy and wet? or see if you get lucky and have the rain wash it away.?

Something tells me to shovel before the change
