Check out the discussion from NWS NY at 12:22pm... They had to raise the temps today based on current situations

--------------------------

And had you seen this at 9:51am you would of known it would be warmer than forecasted today.
Does this mean theyll be wrong on wednesday and we hit 60?

Haha. You know.. I kept posting that NAM model because lately we have gone higher than models and forecasts. Moderator in weather forum pointed out what NWS Boston said...

Quote:
MODELS HAVE BEEN TOO COLD FOR HIGH TEMPERATURES THE LAST FEW DAYS SO HAVE GONE ABOVE THE GENERAL BLENDED GUIDANCE. ALTHOUGH DEEP SNOW PACK REMAINS... IT IS NOT A FRESH SNOW PACK AND MAY NOT BE HAVING AS MUCH OF AN EFFECT ON AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES AS GUIDANCE HAS BEEN SUGGESTING.
While I seriously doubt 60. Mid 50s shouldn't be a surprise. But the warm bias NAM has dropped a bit for CT now just 40s. I wonder if other factors are playing a role like clouds now.

BTW............ GFS lately saying Rain for us. Big Snows and Vermont and Maine. Vermont changes over Saturday afternoon. Consensus is generally Rain Saturday-Sunday which may start as snow briefly Friday night.

You guys like how Euro is handling things?... Euro decides to bring winter back... Check it out..
  • First, on the left.... this weekend.
Storm comes from south heads towards Great Lakes, sends warmth up the East. (general Consensus on that) Rain for us after iniial light Snows. That storm then transfers energy to a new coastal storm. The further south this coastal forms, the further south the snows will be. Right now looks like VT and ME gets the snow.
  • Second, on the right.... Tuesday.
A clipper comes down from Canada. Cold air in place in the northeast. Jet Stream down to North Carolina. This clipper also transfers energy to a new coastal storm. Temps cold enough for snow to the coast. Even NJ. The further south the transfer is made, the further south the heavier snows will be. This run shows eastern MA and NH with the heaviest snows. But we also get 2-5" from it

Well if it happens Tuesday at least we'll have a good deal if not most of the snow cover gone between the warmth and prior rains.

Why is Bridgeport so colder then the rest of the surrounding area? It's like ten degrees colder then all other reporting stations (according to the above map) including other coastal ones.

I have to admit that 36 is suspicious, but this time of year in the daytime coastal locations can actually be colder than inland ones due to the very cold waters at the shore. But I'm suspicious because you'd see a similar effect (with slightly warmer readings) at coastal locations in NYC and LI like Islip or JFK airport and you'd probably see similar (or colder) readings at coastal locations in RI and MA like Block Island or Provincetown (or Logan Airport in Boston for that matter, which now with a 2nd glance is almost as cold as BDR at 39 so maybe it is so).
