Makes you get a sense of how an Ice Age would be.

Constant snows every week, with constant long lasting snowpack but deeper cold air. April would be like February. So June would be like April with snow chances and 20s and 30s. Finally July & August we break and get into the 50s but then back to snow and cold in September October and some places the snowpack didn't have time to melt so new snow keeps piling up on top of it year after year until we' have a 20-50 foot glaciers all around us.. LOL

Oh... GFS has just agreed with the Euro. Snow Tuesday night. 1-4"

Lightly snowing now, nothing sticking. Feels like January with the wind and 20s midday!

Yup, was snowing good and no sticking at all. Temps were fine for it by sun angle radation and ground being warm the intensity wasn't hard enough. Even in Danbury only select few spots saw sticking.

Reporting a Trace at mi casa. No accumulations so far.

Is it really struggling past freezing mid afternoon? Wow

It's sticking here to the existing snowpack and what bare patches of grass we had. It's not deep though, a thin coating, so if it ever warms up it will quickly melt. The roads and driveways are clear, though.

Someone said to me today "but we usually get this cold even in April and May" So I had to check....

Sure enough I came across something interesting...

Bridgeport max today was 40 and it was just for an hour at 1am. Most of day in the low-mid 30s.

The last time Bridgeport failed to pass 40°F after March 27th was in 2007. So it's been a few yrs since we stayed cold like this, this late (8yrs ago!). We don't usually stay in the 30s this late at the coast!

Normal amount of times max temp staying below 41° in March is 8 at BDR. This year we have 15 with 3 days left.

-------------

Danbury's max is 36 which came at midnight for an hour. most of the day its been below freezing. WOW. Last time staying below 37° was 2003.

Not too common to be this cold like this.

Meanwhile cousin said Taconic parkway is a mess. 20 car pile up. Slick!

Here's radar loop 8pm Friday to 8pm tonight.. So doesn't show the continued snow after 8pm tonight.

Watch the ocean moisture meet the arctic air over CT.

So... when am I going to have a break from putting firewood in the stove? This is nuts.

Getting tired saying we're 10-25 below normal east of Mississippi

Here's the southeast temps this morning. Lots of below freezing areas down there
