Cam, air temp in coastal RI on the beach was NOT in the 70s. It was in the upper 50s. Westerly airport is not on the water. Look at obs from wunderground. I know it's not official, but there's multiple stations and they all were reporting temps 54-58 degrees for HIGHS.

It never really gets hot on the beach in RI at anytime of the year. On the sand, it struggles to ever hit 80. There's a difference even a block or two from the beach temperature wise! This time of the year it's downright cool. Your type of weather

The "folks" (My cousins) went to the beach in Westport where it was 70s Sunday. Wasn't talking about RI. I see Westerly barely got past 70 pat weekend. Max was 70-71 Sat-Mon

"It rarely gets hot on the beach in Rhode Island"? Would 80s be consider hot? Many of us only get a handful of 90s in a given year anyway..

BDL

17 days in May 1991 was the record for 80°+
16 in 2010 & 1977

Yes, CT shoreline especially SW ct is MUCH warmer than RI. And that's westerly airport! At the beach with an onshore wind it's MUCH cooler

They're calling for a thunderstorm in Hartford County too, about 9 pm. Don't walk or walk your dog after 9 pm, b/c there is going to be a bad thunderstorm.
