Is it just me, or whenever I pull up a traffic report in Connecticut, Norwalk (I-95 North) and Waterbury (I-84 East (exits 15-23) I-84 West (exits 27-24) are always loaded with traffic from 8:00 AM all the way to 8:00 PM and on Fridays even later. Waterbury is backed up in BOTH directions but Norwalk on I-95 is only going north.

Also, it seems that traffic on I-84 got worse than I-95. I-84 has longer backups at rush hour, starting in NY from the 684 interchange all the way to exit 27 in Waterbury in both directions.

Waterbury always has a delay from exits 22 through 25. There's an electronic message board on Route 8 South that says "I-84 Delays Exit 22 through 25". We always joke they should just put in a permanent sign there with that message because it always says the same thing.

There is also a sign on I-691 that says "Delay I-84 West 4 miles Exit 26-24."

That's not true, traffic goes both ways in Norwalk. And mostly south in the AM.

Waterbury traffic is nothing compared to Stamford/Norwalk.

I have to agree.

Norwalk / Stamford traffic often extends in to Greenwich and Westport, as well.

Isn't there construction from exit 14 to exit 16 in Norwalk and the interchange with Rt 7? Maybe that has something to do with backups?

You beat me too it, it explains the non-rush hour backups there, especially northbound for some reason.
