NORWALK, Conn., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- A man dressed as a Subway sandwich helped escort 40 children off a school bus that stalled at a Connecticut crossing as a train approached, officials say.

Shahzad Khan, in costume to promote his sister's shop, was standing nearby when the bus malfunctioned at a railway crossing, the Stamford Advocate reported Thursday.

If he's from Connecticut, is he a "grinder" instead of a "hero" (Or, is that far enough west to be called a "wedge" and not a grinder?)

Good job Mr. Khan.

Yeah, I don't hear people calling sandwiches "heroes" here in Ct., but it's a nice story.

What is a gyro? Is that another term for hero/sub/grinder? It's funny how there must be a dozen regional names for the same thing.

Okay, I just looked up gyro, it's something different, a Greek sandwich on pita bread.
