Welcome to the West End! By the way, the WECA (West End Civic Association) hosts a monthly cocktail/ potluck party at a different house throughout the neighborhood. A great way to meet the neighbors.

In my search for a house to buy, I have been talking to people about different areas and the school systems. Newington may be a reasonable school district, but I guess when you compare with the school system of nearby towns or on the line between Hartford and NEw Haven (where I was looking), there are towns with better school systems. May be all Relative.

I do not agree. What towns between Hartford and New Haven are you talking about? I would rate Wethersfield, Rocky Hill, Cromwell, Wallingford and North Haven as comparable to Newington but certainly not significantly better. Middletown and Meriden are small cities who schools certainly perform much worse. So I am still not sure why you think this. Jay

Going by test scores (again, you can't always judge by test scores), Newington is right in the mix with all of those towns, and generally better than North Haven. Plus, as I stated earlier, they supposedly have one of the better music programs in the state.

Thanks for this info…probably I always misunderstood Newington Schools' potential. I guess I need to dig in the info more.
