I agree with mlassloff 100% and that's all that I'll contribute to this discussion.

When I lived in the city, I frequently head my neighbor's most intimate moments. Nep should be lucky he only hears snoring.

My advice is to move back to the Hartford area. Cheaper and it's what you like and are comfortable with.

Well, I can certainly hear all the intimate moments right above my bedroom. It's brutally annoying. So there's that, too. I feel like killing them. Seriously.

But, certain people in this forum think that I must like FFC no matter what. I'm still under 30 and have the right to try out a few places here and there. They have done it themselves and are being hypocrites. Most people under 30 are not going to have achieved destiny. But like I said, this is an issue of economics, not personal psychology.

But let's just say that Sylo and mlassoff's theory that I need counseling is correct, for a second. Okay. So let's say I go through a few months of counseling and am suddenly "healed." Then what? Will I like living in FFC? Will that change my monthly expenses? My rent cost? My salary? They claim that the completion of counselling will lead to "satisfaction with anywhere I live." So then what? Will I be satisfied earning a subpar income in FFC for years to come, because the counselling has cured me of worrying about those very real problems?

I think not. Masking problems that are very real does not lead to a real satisfaction. It makes you unable to distinguish between the bad and the good in life and therefore unable to make changes as you get older, in order to achieve what you want and get to where you want to be.

I'd like to see THEM try living alone off of $75K in FFC and THEN see what they think. Fortunately, for them, they make over $100K and aren't much older than me. So really, they are oblivious to the struggles of the middle class in FFC. Must be nice.

Nobody in this thread is actually helpful. Whatever. I'm just going to do what I want with my life anyway.

I think you are lonely. You need a partner.

I do like it there, but I don't want to spend $500 just to fly down for an interview, rent a car and stay at a hotel. Many companies don't cover those expenses. I did this back in May and had an amazingly good interview in Fort Lauderdale. But I didn't get the job. Idk. I don't want to keep pissing away my savings for interview expenses for jobs that I may not get.

Lol. Well, I have been seeing this guy for the past month. We spent a few times together and get along pretty well. My only issue with him is that he smokes weed.

There was another guy that I was hanging out with back in the fall, but he snorted crystal meth right in front of me on the first time we met. It was not too long after before I decided to cut ties with him.

Seems like so many people do drugs these days.

nep... I am a single 29 y/o that works in lower FFC on a salary of 60k in accounting. I agree with you that lower FFC living is very hard for single people making less than 100k. I know that for a fact. I lived in Fairfield struggling with a rent of $1400 because I didn't want the "long" commute. Well, I ended up having to compromise. I ended up moving to Shelton and having a rent that saves me $500 a month. I love my new place. Yes, I have to deal with a pretty rough commute some days, but that's what happens at our age when we are still getting established. You have to learn to compromise.
I think that is what some people are trying to tell you- and you are just flat out refusing to compromise, and therefore people are suggesting you receive counseling. A therapist can at least help you figure out the confusion that is going on in your head and give you an unbiased view on things. No situation is ever going to be perfect, but you need to seriously figure out what you are willing to live with and what you are not willing to live with- and within reasonable means.
