Was about to grab some onions at Stop and Shop until I saw this.........

Keep in mind, there were flys swarming around, as well.

Freaking disgusting. We need some competition FAST. Big Y, aka Big Ripoff doesnt even have self-checkout lanes anymore. There's no way I'm waiting in those lines while paying significantly higher prices. Price Chopper is a joke.

I've usually found Stop & Shop to be better than Wal-Mart or Shop-Rite for produce, but there are many locally owned and/or IGA markets in many towns/regions in the state you can try as well.

I agree. Stop & Shop is a very mediocre grocery store. Big Y is expensive. Price Chopper is crap. Shop Rite is very crappy.

I wish CT had good grocery stores like Wegman's, Harris Teeter and Publix.

Stop & Shop is awful. I remember when I liked it, but it has slid steadily downhill.

Stop & Shop is awful. I've stopped going there altogether.

In my experience, ShopRite is fine for nonperishables, but produce is hit/miss and I'm not a fan of their meat. I buy a lot of nonperishables at Target too, but I don't trust their perishables.

I have the best luck with our local IGA. Fair prices on meat and produce, clean store, very nice people.

LOL not sure what your stores look like but up here in Wally World Shop Rite has some of the freshest fruits and veggies. It's the best store around imo.

We also have a CT Farmers Market that has a lot of fresh stuff too. A little pricey but always delicious. Then once I get my garden up and running I will have my own produce to use.

S and S produce is way overpriced. I could get produce for half their prices at a local store.

2.99 LB for tomatoes, I could get that for 1.29 LB at local store. plz.
1.99 LB for onions, I could get that for .99 LB at local store. plz.

Don't buy tomatoes really but onions are usually .99/lb for the vidalia/sweets we use at Shop Rite.

Where do you live, OP?

The Milford Shop Rite has decent produce. I love Robert Treat Farm during the season.

I avoid Stop and Shop at all costs.
