This is one of the things ConnDOT will likely correct. Jay

I've been through Hartford at rush hour. It sucks. For a few miles. It's nothing like the 25-30 mile constant backups in lower FFC. That's why it should be #1 priority for the state.

I've actually avoided job opportunities in Greenwich and Darien that are too far from the train stations because of the traffic. That's just a micro example of the economic implications.

The problem is that it's nyc suburbs. Even you upgrade the roads....the mess will move farther out and sprawl even more. Think about it...people think they can now live farther out and get more house for their money. More people need to take the train.

I agree, and then think about how drastically that corridor of track needs upgrading, too. There's so many deprived parts of CT's infrastructure that the state just doesn't know where to begin. Then everyone talks about where's our priority, and things get worse since little is being done. IMO, rail should be the priority.

Well, transportation of any form needs to be the priority there. Railway and station upgrades aren't happening at a fast enough pace.

Are you kidding me? That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard.
Well building bigger parking lots would make a lot more sense than trying to rebuild 95(and a million times less money)

They've been building new stations instead of parking garages at current stations. Which doesn't make sense to me as it just adds travel time with more stops.

The problem is that a number of Metro-North stations are located right in towns or villages and adding a Stamford-sized parking structure isn't going to fly with residents. Southport, Fairfield, and Westport stations come immediately to mind.

Milford has a proposed parking garage behind the courthouse, yet they built a new station in West Haven. The Westport train station area isn't exactly full of character, they could certainly have a small 2-3 story garage there.
