NWS has snow in the forecast back again for tomorrow, about an inch on the immediate coast, and 1-2" in the rest of the state, tomorrow afternoon/night into early Monday morning.

I see Thursday is trending back towards snow rather than a possible snow-to-rain scenario that was starting to come up.

The Weather Centre:

February 13-15 Potential Snowstorm
By Andrew at 11:11 AM Saturday, February 8, 2014

The GFS model indicates we will see a negatively tilted trough work its way down into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic around Valentine's Day, in the midst of an established northwest flow regime. We see this regime set up as a result of storminess over the Gulf of Alaska, and a suppressed ridge in the West US.

Quote:
So what can we establish right now?

-The synoptic pattern looks favorable for a winter weather event in the East Coast, thanks to an evolving northwest flow pattern.

-A potential storm system is being modeled on forecast guidance that may impact the East Coast of the US.

-If a storm system does form in the United States, it looks like it will be favored to bring snow to inland portions of the East Coast, rather than coastal regions.

Good to see 1-3" back on track for tomorrow after all the back and forth with a lot and nothing at all. Give us something after all the hassle. LOL!

Thursday Euro has a snow event, GFS had rain. but latest GFS trended colder but without too much precip.

Notice Euro on left has us in all blue and perfect storm position for a snow event here. GFS too warm.

Euro has a 3-8" swath from North Carolina to Maine.

I just want to say that I will gladly NOT form a part of this:

I post this here because I think lovers of the cold, the snow, and the horribleness of CT winters would appreciate knowing when this will take place this year.

February 14 Storm Update:

All models agree on a Nor'Easter.

Here's a look at the GFS(left), Canadian(middle) EURO(right). It's showing surface pressure and temps at 4000 feet.

Looks like a strong clipper and a strong coastal storm at same time but only the coastal affecting us here. GFS still warmer than the others but came around to agree on the Thursday not Friday time frame. Canadian the strongest but furthest off shore.

Keep us posted on what they and others say. Be interesting to see down the road how they change or how conservative they are.

Here's noaa's forecast for Wilton.
