I typically stay in Super 8 or EvonoLodge when I travel (West Virginia). They are normally clean, free wifi, fridge in room.

Have a look here to see what you can expect for $50 in CT.
And what's wrong with that? It looks like a perfectly decent motel.

Hey, there's a Wendy's next door for breakfast and Pilot nearby to grab a pack of Marb Reds. If you're feelin' freaky, the Luv Boutique is a short walk away. Score.

Alright it may not be for everyone but Super 8 can be decent as long as you do not expect a lot. Jay

Yeah. When it comes to lodging, the cheapest option in a particular area will be the worst option in that area, 99% of the time. It's amazing what paying an extra 15-25% more will yield in comparison.

Another option that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg is the Microtel on Stony Hill Road in Bethel. I have stayed at several of their locations and always found them to be affordable, clean, and well maintained.

Ditto that! Sometimes I don't know what people expect out of a hotel. Often when I go away, I'm on the go so I'm just staying overnight. All I want is a clean bed and shower, and a place to bring my bike inside. Fridge and wifi are great bonuses, and like I said, are pretty normal in the Super 8's I've stayed in. The expensive places charge you $10/night for wifi.

When I go away for work, we are typically in a Sheraton or something in the $150 or above range. They still have loud ACs, windows that don't open, unruly guests, and that oh so wonderful $10 wifi charge. They give me nothing that the $60 Super 8 won't, except greater expectations for a quiet few hours sleep which rarely happens. We did stay in an older EconoLodge that had a leaking AC, but if you ask they'll move you to a new room.

I'm more cautious with the independents, they can really be hit or miss. But something like what was posted above is reasonable looking to me. Honestly I've slept in my car, so I'm pretty low maintenance.
