A city-to-city taxi (shared/ exclusive) is much better to match our need.
I think based on this the Connecticut Limo is probably your best option.

It has always amazed me that, in a city which boasts among the best mass transit in the world, there is no direct connection between Midtown Manhattan and JFK.

Forgot JFK! How is there not even a direct subway link between midtown & LaGuardia is unfathomable.

I just recently looked into all my options for travel to JFK from near Bristol. Unfortunately, the best option is to rent a car. There is a company, CT limo, that runs a limo in the area, but all the reviews on line were SO horrible (for example, leaving elderly people sitting in an airport all night because they didn't want to bother running the contracted for limo ride that night) that I decided against them. The only option left was renting a car.

It is a shame. At one time CT Limo was great. Their fleet of limos were well cared for and their service excellent. We use to always use them. Then the owner got involved in other businesses and let the company go. Service got really bad and it all went down hill. I now know people would rather drive themselves now than use them. Jay

The owner of this company is a 2 time convicted felon and is facing jail time again. I wouldn't trust this company nor its drivers.

It costs around 80 bucks(estimating) just for gas for a 14 passenger van to get to jfk and back from hartford. Those vans get about 8mpg city if their lucky and you know how much stop and start driving there is with all the traffic. Then you have to pay driver, maintenance/insurance/depreciation/repairs on vehicle, overhead ect. ect.

So do the math on the rates. They'd have to have that van really full of people to make a profit.

I have flew to Europe several times in the past two years and have used Wisla for transport, never had an issue. Travel one in New Britain and Polamer Express also run several daily trips to jfk, laguardia and newark.

LIRR from Penn Station will take you directly to the Air Train at Jamaica station. It's about :20 minutes. I wind up doing this a couple times a year when I am working in the city during the day and flying out in the evening. THere is also a subway option from Manhattan direct to Jamaica, but it's much longer and requires about 20 stops.

It's NOT 3 subways from Manhattan to Jamaica, however.
