A swimming pool was on our "wish" list when we were shopping, but it didn't happen for us. We did buy a house with a nice flat piece of property thinking that we could always put one in down the road. When we looked into pricing though, we determined it would cost more than we were willing to spend. So for me personally, it would be a bonus. I know others feel differently though, and actually IIRC there is a thread about the pros/cons of a swimming pool somewhere here on the CT board from within the last year.

My husband idea was to find a house without a pool and put one in, but I can't totally see the cost will be way more than what we want to spend, so it would be a bonus when we house shop next year.

I know they exist, but are most of those on the lake-which would be ok then? I just don't think it makes sense to spend that kind of dough in certain towns for resale purposes. Just like I think it's overspending with $1M or 900 or so for regular non-water Fairfield/Norwalk. It could take forever to sell if the time came, I know I experienced it myself up there. Imo resale is more important then what you get for the money.
