Us "people" know how congested Route 1 gets, especially with all of the stop lights. It would take much longer.

We the "people" know how frustrating it is to get behind someone making a left and waiting until they wait until traffic on other side is clear to make the turn. lol

RT 1 isnt that bad. It just gets frustrating with all the traffic lights. CT has four options:

1. Build a walking/biking trail from Greenwich to Bridgeport.
2. Build another freeway that is a bypass to 95 for all non-state drivers.
3. Double deck 95 or widen the Merritt
4. Upgrade Metro-North line.

The best is 4 IMO. 1 and 2 will likely never happen. #3 might, but the state doesnt want to double deck because of earthquakes, and people are fighting the Merritt improvements (its a parkway people).

Option 4 is cheaper
Option 1 is bad idea

It might be quicker to walk from Greenwich to Bridgeport than drive on 95/Merritt.

You will NOT avoid the congestion. Many of those residents are the ones stuck in traffic on the merrit/95. They have to stay in that town if they want to avoid the traffic. Point is the same. Majority of the people who live in these towns commute elsewhere for work or to do anything. What employment is in Easton that pays 200k+? Unless you're a doctor with a practice in Easton. I've been to these towns. Horrible unless you don't mind staying in Easton and not leaving. BORING.

Actually I live in one of the aforementioned towns and I rarely encounter traffic. The Merritt flows well on nights and weekends. In the mornings New Canaan and Wilton are in front of the no exit zone on the Merritt and back roads can avoid the evening traffic altogether. Evening traffic starts back around the Stamford and Greenwich line.

Wilton only has lights along rt 7 and is devoid of traffic. I tend to head north when I actually shop in physical locations. Danbury has the best mall and amazing parking for the big box stores in town or just over the bethel, Brookfield line. Its actually less traffic plagued here than in Milford/Orange or the Hartford suburbs. Its also an easy ride to get to Danbury as opposed to the Norwalk madness.

Try again.
