My question is were you looking to move to New England? Or do you see the relocation as a sacrifice for the employment position?

We have some good amenities: foliage, seafood, homemade ice cream, nice history. But if you just want convenient living and say no thanks to the excess, you will probably be price-disappointed.

Yes. Do your homework. In my profession, the extra pay for CT is not enough to overcome the extra cost of CT. Make sure your situation is different.

If you live east of Hartford it seriously isn't that bad though

Rent runs 900-1050 for 1 bedroom
1100-1350 for 2+ bedrooms

And lots of dining options for $10-$15 for full meal with soup/salad

Grocery items are par with other places and marginally more expensive but nothing you can't budget for

Don't forget car tax, gasoline, and electricity prices.

USUALLY jobs here are somewhat adjusted for the higher cost of living expenses. Even the same jobs at the same company are adjusted for Fairfield County vs non-Fairfield County within Connecticut.

That said, I hope your household income is going up as a result of taking a Connecticut-based job. Otherwise, IMO, maintaining the same salary/wage and moving up to Connecticut means that you're actually taking a paycut (as everything here is more costly).
